I'm back "home on the range" in Kansas. Had a "wunderful, wunderful" time at that terrific reunion. Thanks to Paul, Carole, Donna, Ginny, Art and all who had a part in pulling together this memorable event. Keep in mind that most of us spent 12 of our first 18 years together, which makes us almost like brothers and sisters. Now, its back to life as usual including my 17th anniversary with Kathy on November 7th.

Best wished for the holidays ahead and a Happy New Year.

Sue Lane Henderlite

You all put together a very memorial reunion. I thank you all for allowing me to attend and letting me reconnect with old friends. What an awesome weekend! Anyone passing through Charleston, SC I'd love to see you. Sue

Don Kimsey

I too am looking foward to the upcoming reunion and swapping tales of years gone bye. My late wife and I attended the 25th reunion at Art Lupinacci's in Stamford and I was surprised by the changes that had taken place. Now with double the time I can only imagine the additional changes. I promise not to bore you all with stories of my three grand kids, but I still have a small, albeit politically correct, number of   jokes (see my year book picture quote) that I just may share after a few cocktails.

AT LAST...I will make a reunion...by myself I'm sad to say. But I figure that if I don't make THIS one, there might not be another opportunity.Anyone remember shell-shocked "Mr. Ashman" in Plane G?...pitching pennies against the blackboard...With the exception of a 5 year hiatus in R.I., I've lived in the Sunshine State since '70. Daughter living in Albany with new husband "Pete" and her two girls; son, Paul,an Arabic translator(of cell phone signals) just returned to Iraq while his wife and 4 yr. old son remain in CO Spgs. See you all at Paul's house.

Hope all you golf players and fans saw the 37th Ryder Cup at our course here in Lou.  Was most exciting one in long time, and we brought the cup back!  Iwas walking scorer for first foursome match between Mickelson/Kim and Harrington/Karlsson which was halved, and on Sunday singles for BOOOOOOOOO Weekley and Oliver Wilson, who won 4&2 as you know!  Opening and closing ceremonies were fantastic, and I have lots of autographs for my grandson Sam.  Was experience of a lifetime for this golf nut. Linda (Burkett), I read in blog you and family live in Lexington, Ky. and love golf!  We have to try to get together next summer when we get back from Florida, we'd love to have you play Valhalla. Also see you are UK fans (Roger's a UK grad).  How about our J.B. Holmes win at Ryder Cup over Hansen!!  He put drives in places we couldn't believe from those back tees.

Let's email and keep in touch.

Have to run, our houseguests are leaving, more coming in from Texas tomorrow for a week, (another golf tournament)  What fun, but cuts into my grandson time.

See Y'all soon.

Wish I could be there - but it's "football time in the Bluegrass" - and we have a "houseful for the UK/South Carolina game - hard to believe it has been 50 years- since DHS time (still remember the "fun" times in orchestra when Anne Lindberg would count Mr. Thompson hairs in his mustach)- I am still working full time in the advertising world - once it's in the blood you hate to give it up - husband is retired after 38+ years at IBM - so roles are reversed.  We are proud parents of 4 grown children - Scott is a Commander in the US Navy - Submarines lives in Chesapeake VA- (1 14year old son), Todd is Naval reserves and Computer Inforamtion Manager - 3 grand childen  ages 9,6 and 9 months- lives in Pittsburgh - Craig is in the auto industry - just married in June and lives in Nicholasville, ky - our youngest - Amy is a media buyer and still single - living here in Lexington - and our oldest and adopted son lives in Cherry Hill NJ  working in the trucking industry- Barry was our initiation into sports as he played football for UK.  Paul and I enjoy playing golf - and UK sports - whether it is football or basketball - We manage to travel around to see the kids - and play various golf courses in the south!  You'all have a wonderful time at reunion - since I travel quite a bit (on the job with clients)- maybe I can get a client in Connecticut and just drive through Darien - it has been about 35 years since through there!

Hi to all my DHS classmates, it's unbelievable how time flies. Unfortunately, I can't make the reunion but I wanted to thank Ginny, Paul, Art, Donna and Steve for all their hard work in organizing the event and setting up the on-line communications. Even if you can't be there, the on-line communications bring back the memories and it is interesting to hear from everyone.

I married Kathy Taylor (Gwenny Taylor's little sister) in 1963 and I've been a very happy man ever since. We have 4 children and 6 grandchildren.  We moved to the Sunshine State permanently this year -- can't handle the snow anymore. Looking back it's been a "great ride". Lot's of laughs a few challanges but all-in-all very rewarding. My work required a lot of travel world-wide and, frankly, if I never see another airport again I'd be very happy. Now we enjoy biking, playing bridge, reading, walking and "vegging"

-- doesn't sound very exciting, but we have fun. I also enjoy oil painting

-- tons of canvas' all over the place.

I hope everyone has a great time in October and we'll be thinking of you.

Greetings from "The Bar-B-Q" capitol ... Kansas City. Look forward tovisiting with all in attendance October 10, 11 and 12. Just cut the cake August 20th on my 68th. My mom celebrated her 95th  July 11th in Chicopee, MA; residing at  assisted-living quarters after selling the Fatherley residence. My father passed away in  1993. Brother Bob Fatherley, Jr. lives in Westport, CT with his Julie. Kid-brother John lives in Chicopee with his Danielle. I'll have lunch tomorrow with Marcia Williams Perry and her Max. Marcia was a career flight attendant with TWA, and Max was a rep for John Deere. They won't be able to be at the reunion, but asked me to express their best wishes to one and all. With harvest in by next month, it's been a good year in the Great Plains. As the sun sinks slowly in the West, best wishes from the smokin' Bar-B-QCapitol!     RWF

Most of you have been very good about sending in your bios and recent photos.  We have another request.  We are trying to create a slide show of old photos and memorabilia from our days at DHS.  Please dig out those old boxes in the attic and search for anything you think would be of use.  Particularly, we are looking for Neirads from 1956-1958.  We have issues dated: 9/57, 11/57, 2/58, 4/58 and 5/58.  Send originals or copies to me or Paul Johnson.  One more thing, please let me know if you have specific music requests for our DJ and I will pass that information on to him.  This is going to be one fantastic weekend.  Help us out if you can.

I never thought 50 years could pass so quickly. Six years ago I was in Darien and talked with Steve Zangrillo at the Darien Sport Shop who remembered many in our class by name. I live with my wife Dawn in Seattle and retired from my medical practice in 2000. We travel and I enjoy part time teaching. We have two grown children and are expecting our first grandchild in the next few weeks. Thanks for making this reunion possible

Gwen Taylor Sigmund

After a marriage of relatively short duration I discovered what every good wife knows... they are most attentive, charming and treat you best when you are dating.   I changed my status and have never gone back.  I remained, with my two children in the Washington Metropolitan area where I met and enjoyed the company of many interesting people.  English, Chinese, Hungarian, American, Physician, Finance Banker, Architect etc. they all brought something interesting and varied to the table.  Trips to Hawaii, Mexico, Hot Air Ballooning in Paris, the Caribbean, skiing in Colorado and cruises among others.  No two years were the same but they were all an adventure in life.  Now nothing delights me more than time spent with my joyful young granddaughter.

Bruce Vogel

I never did make it to Darien High - shipped of to boarding school after ninth grade - but looking through the class list, there are many I remember from grade school (Royal, Hindley & DJH.

I now live in San Mateo, CA and am still working. I produce a community lecture series

I was married for 24.877776 years, got divorced in 1990,have two kids and a living happily ever after.

I was excited to hear from Donna Hobbie regarding DHS 50th renuion. I get to Darien quite often and am especailly looking forward to "looking back" with all of you. See you in October

Looking forward to seeing y'all. Good thing for Blogs as it bring back memories that have departed from my brain. Ann Faila - similarities as I had several farms of which one was in Kentucky. My other half lives in KY & FL. I do say y'all also. Jerry Porter, you & I both had knee surgery from high school football. Had considerable more since then.

Ann (Failla Adkins) Peoples

Hi Y'all.  Looking forward to 50th??!!! reunion.  Husband Roger and possibly daughter Susan will come also.  Thanks to committee for all your hard work, sounds like a great weekend planned.  Roger has his 50th here in Louisville this summer and has been working on it.  Told him looking at his yearbook is like looking through a window to my old DHS!

We still spend winters in Palm City, Fl. home, summers here "down on the farm."  Son Gerry, Patti, and grandson Sam, and daughter Susan live in Lou.  Lots of golf, traveling, flower and vegetable gardening, skeet shooting, family and friends make summers fly by.  As you all may know, we are hosting the '08 Ryder Cup at Valhalla Golf Club Sept. 16th-21st, so exciting!

Have a great summer, email me if you want to chat.

Anne Keller Hufford

WISH I COULD MAKE IT, BUT WE WILL BE TRAVELING.  NOTED THAT PAUL JOHNSON IS ON THE COMMITTEE, PLEASE TELL HIM THAT EVERY YEAR I LOOK FOR THE TIME MAGAZINE PERSON OF THE YEAR ISSUE AND HAVE NOT SEEN HIS PICTURE LIKE THE ONE HE DREW IN THAT AWFUL CRAFTS WE WERE MADE TO TAKE.  LOWEST GRADE I EVER GOT

Jacqueline (Jackie) Kerr Deiber

Oh my gosh!  Has it been 50 years!!! Where has the time gone.  It seems just like yesterday that I was zipping off to the Sugar Bowl in my red '51 Ford convertible to meet up with Carol for a coke and an order of french fries, WITHOUT KETCHUP, becuse we were on a diet. Do you think any of us will recognize each other?  I still have all my hair and teeth, but that's about all. I'll never fit into my prom dress again, but I also don't have to fight acne anymore! The original 'party girl' now hits the sack at 10:45 PM, right after Leno's monolog. Oh my goodness.  Have we all changed so much, or am I the only one.......

Jackie Kerr Deiber

Jim Cochran

I echo Jerry Porter's comments.  I've never been able to make a reunion due to many conflicts of life.  I wouldn't miss the 50th for all the tea in China.  Hope someone can find the Hawk flag and bring it!   See you in Oct.

I appreciate all the work you are doing to make the 50th reunion a very special event.  I am very sorry I will not be able to attend.  I am still playing with the Atlanta Symphony and we have a full week of concerts during this time.  I have spent my vacation time visiting family and have not been able to return to Darien in many years.  I have two married daughters and 3 granddaughters.

Well, I can't wait for everyone to come to town for the class reunion. Darien is reinventing itself.  About a year ago it was decided that Darien should be a "walking" town like New Canaan, Ridgefield & the main street in Greenwich. So, the town now
has quite a few new good-looking buildings with some big namebrand companies coming in.  As of now  we have a Panera Bread, Ann Taylor Loft, Dunkin Donuts, Red Door Spa, Starbucks & Thai and Asian restaurants. Coming next will be Brooks Brothers & Lucy's.  They are even working on the RR underpass. I can't wait for you all to see the new & improved Darien.

Interested in a ride from the airport? Here are two companies that I have used. Connecticut Limo @ 1-800-472-LIMO has a shuttle that  drops you off at a hotel in the area.

Primetime Shuttle @ Town Car Service @ 1-800-377-8745 has door-to-door service.

Is it October yet?

I am looking forward to attending.  Never have I been able to attend in the
past for a variety of reasons, but the 50th, I feel I can not miss.

Darien Class of 1958 Blog

Dear Classmates,

Your local reunion planning committee is working hard to make the 50th a huge success and non-area classmates are also pitching in.  Pat Beckman Lorenzo , in Virginia, will be scanning our yearbook pictures to publish on the web site so that those of you without a yearbook can see how we haven’t aged that much. Dick Fatherley from Kansas City has been a great help with artwork for the home page and has gathered together some ‘58 memories. Sue Lane Henderlite is tackling the Classmates.com list and numerous classmates have found many of the missing.

We encourage everyone to send in your ideas and most importantly to plan to attend. We are booking a bloc of rooms at the Doubletree Hotel on the Darien/Norwalk line at $89 dollars a night (plus tax). Details to come as well as other hotel suggestions. We would also like everyone to mail or E-mail a recent picture and begin to set down your reflections on the last 50 years as we hope to produce a really memorable class booklet.
